What do you get when you cross an epic, cresting wave with a plate-sized surfboard? Whomping.

Body surfing is having an adrenaline fuelled revival on surf beaches around Australia and the world. It attracts a mellow, merry bunch of dudes and gals who don fins and hand planes, walk backwards into the surf, and head out deep past the shallows.

Facing off territorial surfers and not thinking about sharks, they find thrill and release in surfing full contact with the ocean, all the while aiming not get whomped by a body-crushing barrel.
